About the SCYD
The South Chicagoland Young Democrats is proud to be the first high school Young Democrats group in the state of Illinois. The Young Dems meet to discuss issues important to us as Democrats, raise awareness of these issues among the community, and work for Democratic candidates of our choice. The group meets every week, currently at Borders Books, 4824 West 211th Street, Matteson, IL (NW Corner of Rt. 30 and Cicero). Meetings begin at 7 p.m. and last until about 8:30 p.m. Any interested high school students and SCYD alums are welcome to attend meetings. Parents are also welcome at any time, but they can’t vote.
In addition to meeting weekly, the SCYD publishes a newsletter a few times a year, as often as we’re able. Download copies of our newsletter on the right.
